Senior Project Problems

Alot of changes occured at EHS this year, the biggest one is the seniors at the school were forced into another graduation requirment, senior projects. Not only did they force this project upo the students at the high school but also made the matter very unprofessioal for some of the students.
The teachers and facaltly announced the project outline at the start of the year, the steps were very simple.
1.) Write a proposal letter about what your project would be on and how you would go about accomplishing it. In the letter the students had to sate who their senior mentor would be, who their ouside source would be and also to state your project and the plan to accomplish it.
2.)Begin your project with your mentor and outside source's help.
3.)Present your project to a panel of teachers and they would decide if you pass or fail.

Many seniors refused to do this this silly project and ended up failing, these students will not alk with their peers and possibly will not graduate.
One instance ended horifically for one student, who will remain nameless. He wrote a song and made a music video for his project. His letter had been accepted, his mentor had no complaints and his panel gave him an outstandin 19/20. A week after he presented the powerless figure, known as the Vice Pricipal, called this young man into his office and told him he had to redo his project that he worked all year on, in one month if he wished to graduate. The man made up staistics such as "80% of the school was offended by the racey comments in the song about his best friend, making jokes about how close their friendship is. Was this fair to do to this student who not only worked all year on his Senior project, that literally offfended no one i talked to, and also worked hard to keep an oustanding GPA throughout grade school, middle school and high school while juggleing school sports?

Evanston High School and the entire distric has many changes to make next year, in both the education part of school and also in the facualty who judged this project unfairly. They could have given this senior a warning before he began his project but instead waited until he presented and then pulled him down.
What did any senior gain from this project? 60 wasted hours of work durring the year? No diploma for their 12 hard years of work? What was fair about this project this year? Nothing and changes need to be made.

After you are an official graduate why don't you submit this to the school board and the Uinta County Herald. What can they do to you. You will be in Florida. BTW, did you know this school district is the only one in the state that requires a senior project.?
