ANALYSIS ESSAY #1: BEOWULF

Is it possible that there was some good in Grendel? After all his mother cared for her son enough to try and avenge his death, this is a maternal emotion so is it possible for this small amount of good in her to be passed down to her son?

In the intro summary to one section of the story, it says “Grendel’s mother kidnaps and kills Hrothgar’s best friend”. She sought revenge on the king for her son’s death which means she cared for her son. It’s safe to assume that it is possible that Grendel cared for his mother as well; after all you normally care for someone who cares for you. This makes me think that Grendel couldn’t have been all bad.

But if Grendel had some good in him, why didn’t he show it? The story only focuses on the evil he caused, and not on the fact that his mother loved him enough to seek revenge. Why would his mother love him if there was no good in him? This brings me to believe that there was good in him he didn’t share with the world. I think he kept it locked up and only showed his mother his loving, caring side.

Grendel’s mother loved her son; doesn’t that imply that he returned her love? I believe that Grendel had a nice side to him, but he only showed his evil side outside of his cavern and his mother was the only one to know he had a loving side. I guess we will never know for sure if Grendel had this good side.

Obama's Speech

I just watched Obama's speech on CSPAN and i have to say it was inspiring. He really showed how much he cares about the youth of this nation and gave reasons to stay in school. With my best friend being a HS drop out it really hit home for me, if you drop out you are really hurting the economy because it will cost money out of graduates pockets to support you.

Vince and Shaq

Afew days ago, the Cav's traded Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic to the Suns for Shaq. This is good they are trying to stay in contention for the East and trying to show LeBron he should stay. Howver this is a better deal for the Suns. They got rid of a washed up player and got a guard who can keep up with Nash. Now the Cav's will advance to the Eastern conference finals next year, but the Sun's will barely make the playoffs because they are re building.

After the Magic heard what the Cav's did, they made a trade of their own to keep in competion with them. They traded Alston, Lee and a plyer who doesnt matter to the Nets for Vince Carter. Carter is on the down side of his Carrer but better than Shaq. The Magic now have the most complete starters on the court in the NBA. Howard at Center, Lewis at PF, Carter at SF, Reddick at SG, and Nelson at PG. Right there you have 4 potental all stars and 1 player who is in the making of an all star. Sorry Clevland but Orlando is gonna beat you out again next year if you dont make ore moves, get rid of BIG Z.

NBA Finals

For those of you who are watching the Lakers completly tear the Magic apart, i think its unfair for L.A. The Lakers took both home games from Orlando and now have to go to Florida where they will play a possible of 3 games. It wont take 3 games for the Lakers to win their 15th Championship, but it would be to their advantage for them to lose two of the games so they can close it out in California. Is it fair for the Lakers faithful fans not to be their when Kobe holds up his finals MVP trophey? I'm thinking its not. The way the NBA finals are set up so that the first two games are played in L.A. then the next 3 in Orlando and if needed games 6 and 7 are back in L.A. What i think would be better is if the first 2 games were in L.A and then the 3rd in Orlando. Now this is where it gets strange, whoever has the lead in the series should have home court advantage for game 4. If its tied after game 4 then it should go to the team that won more games in the regular seson. It would be this style up until games 6. If after game 6 the teams are tied 3-3 then it should be played in a neutral site, such as Las Vegas, This way the winning team can share their victory with their home town fans. (For example the Lakers won 2 in L.A. so lets say the Magic won the one they have in Orlando to make it 2-1, the next game would be in L.A. because they lead the finals series, The Magic tie it 2-2 in L.A. and since the Lakers wn more gmaes game 5 is in L.A, Orlando takes game 5 so they lead 3-2 so game 6 goes to Orlando so their fans can celebrate if the Magic won and if their was a game 7 it would be played in Vegas.)

King James and the Cav's

Ok first of all i'm not LeBrons biggest fan, if anything i'm the exact oppiste, but Clevland is close to an NBA championship so here is what they should do to bring home that trophey next year.

1.)Trade LeBron. he is a free agent at the end of next season and no one knows if he will be back for the 2011 season. Trade him while you still can. The Sacromento Kings have a great Guard, Kevin Martin, who you could trade James for and you would be closer to the finals with him then you will be with James

2.)Start Ben Wallace? Why are the Cavs starting Anderson Varejo when you could have former defensive player of the year on the bench? Anderson may be younger but Big Ben has how many championship rings with the pistons?

3.)Mo Williams. Need i say more? This kid is amazing, top five point guards in the league( R. Rondo, C.Paul, D. Williams, J. Nelson )You dont need Delente West starting, Bench the guy and put in a REAL 2 guard like Pavlovic. He was a starter last time you made it to the finals why not stick with a good thing.

Now Trading LeBron, Staring Big Ben and Pavloic all sounds starnge but trust me, im a 17 year old who has nothing better to do than point out the flaws different teams have. You focas on LeBron too much. When leBron plays poorly, you lose, when Kobe plays poorly the Lakers always have Odom, Gasol and Fisher to back him up. Thats why they are in the finals and the Cavs are not.

weekend and other stuff

I had fun with Dave and Dad in Phoenix this past weekend, even if Dave did refer to me as "past" and dad as "Future". I am now the color of a tomato. We watched 2 games while i was there and searched frantically around the city for a baseball and a pizza parlor. I also discovered i can swim. . .ish. Oh and we had Church's Chicken.
I am taking 2 college credit classes next year, College English and College Political Science. And if i am lucky i would like to get another credit in this summer so i can get my associates the year after high school. I have the opportunity of going to a 10 day conference in DC this summer and receive 2 college credits there as well. Or i could go spend a week with Dave and try and get a credit.
One favor to ask anyone, i have a report on St Paul(Saul) Due in my CP English class. If you have any information on him or his philosophical views, please send them to my email under the subject of ST Paul. Thanks. Oh ya Chelly is a doodle head.
